Help for Parents

Everything about your family account, learner profiles, class invites, and homework.

Need to reach someone?

Use Contactin the top nav to message your child's teacher directly, or reach platform support — right in the app, no email needed. Requires verifying your phone number first (a one-time step on your account's Verification tab).

Account & sign-in

How do I create an account?

Go to your account pageand use the "Create a parent account" form — just a name (optional), email, and an 8+ character password. Accounts are for parents, guardians, and staff; your child doesn't need their own account to start practicing.

Why do I need to verify my email?

After you sign up, we send a confirmation link to your email address. You need to click it before you can add a learner profile for your child.

This isn't just spam prevention — creating a learner profile is also how you, as the parent or guardian, give consent for your child's practice data to be collected (the COPPA-required parental consent for a child under 13). Confirming your email first makes sure that consent is actually tied to an email address you control, not a typo or someone else's inbox.

How does my child play without their own account?

Your child can start practicing right away on a shared or family device without signing in at all — the app tracks their progress anonymously using a random id stored on that device.

Later, when you create a learner profile on your account page, the "Add learner profile" form checks whether the device you're on has any of that anonymous history. If it does, you'll see a checkbox asking whether to link it to the new profile — check it and past scores and progress carry over instead of starting fresh. Leave it unchecked and the profile just starts clean. The underlying device id is never something you type or choose yourself; it's generated automatically and only shown (behind a "What is this, technically?" disclosure) for anyone curious.

Classes & invites

What is a class invite, and how do I accept one?

A teacher invites your child into their class by entering your email address and your child's display name. For the invite to go through, you need a parent account and a learner profile for that child, with the display name matching what the teacher typed — create both on your account pagefirst if you haven't already (do this before telling the teacher you're ready, so their invite doesn't fail). Once that's in place, sign in and, if there's a pending invite, you'll see it under "Class invites" near the top of the page, naming the class, the subject, and the learner name the teacher entered.

Nothing enrolls until you respond: press Accept to enroll that learner, or Decline to turn it down.

How do I see my child's homework?

Once your child is actively enrolled in a class, sign in on your account pageand look under "Your classes." Any assigned homework shows as a "Do this homework" link with its due date, right under the class it belongs to. You may also see a "needs a bit more practice" list (concepts your child is still working toward) and a "ready to demonstrate" list (concepts they've practiced enough to attempt a mastery check) — those aren't formal homework assignments from the teacher, just the app surfacing what makes sense to work on next.

Daily Word Drill & billing

What is the Daily Word Drill, and why does it stop after a little while?

It's a second, shorter practice loop alongside your child's regular weekly lesson — good for building real daily spelling-bee volume. It always stops on its own after about 20 words or 12 minutes, whichever comes first, across everything your child practices that day — on purpose, so it's never an open-ended "keep going" loop. That's a deliberate design choice, not a bug or a limit you can raise.

Your child can choose between tapping letter tiles one word at a time, or (for a faster, more confident speller) typing a whole list of words at once — both feed the same progress tracking either way.

What does 'Payments aren't switched on yet' mean on the Billing page?

Payment is entirely opt-in, per coach — most classes on this platform are, and stay, free. If your child's specific coach has chosen to charge for their class, you'll see real pricing and a working Subscribe button there instead of that message. Seeing it means nothing is expected of you right now; your coach will let you know directly if and when that changes.

Multiple children & other questions

What if I have more than one child?

Add a separate learner profile for each child from the same parent account — there's no limit on the "Add learner profile" form on your account page. Each profile gets its own display name, optional grade, consent record, class enrollments, and homework, all listed independently under "Learner profiles" and "Your classes" on your account page.

What's the phone number field for?

It's optional. You'll get a 6-digit code by text to confirm the number before it's marked verified — that's all it's used for today. Text-message reminders about your child's classes and homework are planned but not switched on yet; verifying now just means you're ready the moment they are. WhatsApp support is planned too, also not available yet.

I'm actually here to teach, not as a parent — where do I sign up?

Use the teacher sign-up page instead — same underlying account system, but the copy and next steps are written for teachers (including high-schooler or college-student teacher recruits) rather than parents. See the Teacher FAQ for what happens after you sign up there.
